The Metal Cell was delighted to welcome founding members Sonja (guitars) and Jessica (bass) of Dictated on the show. Having been blown away after watching Hypso, it was a pleasure to have a chilled out conversation with them, whilst supping on a beer or two before their much anticipated appearance at the Siege. Sonja and Jessica gave a great insight into the new album Phobos and the people involved, who helped make it one of the best reviewed Death Metal albums of the year so far. Dictated are about to embark on a few months of touring and promoting Phobos so naturally I was filled with great pride that they chose Ireland to launch the album. The Podcast wouldn't be complete without the usual laugh out loud moments and interesting stories by the band. Dictated love Ireland and it shows in this interview.

The Metal Cell Podcast was delighted to sit down and have a chat with Neil (guitars) and Fredy (vox/guitars) of Nomadus. The lads are off to a flyer with their band, having won over lots of fans with their Metal to the Masses final appearance and about to play in front of an eager crowd at The Siege of Limerick. Nomadus have secured support slots to The Crawling and Elder Druid so the future looks very positive for these Northern Irish Riff Lords. I can only hope they will back up the credentials with an early release next year to showcase their mastery of the riff.

The Metal Cell was delighted to welcome Sean (Vox), Conor (Guitar) and Aaron (Bass) from Arjuna's Eye to the studio with in my opinion a contender for Irish Metal Album of the year “Amalgam” I was keen to get an insight into the stories about the songs and the work that went into the production of it. An album steeped in mythology and themes, the conversation was certainly incredibly entertaining and informative. Arjuna's Eye have certainly delivered with “Amalgam” and it remains to be seen where it can take these talented musicans from Cork.

Its a great episode and another fine example of someone who wants to create and help build the Irish Metal Scene.

The Metal Cell was set up in The Green Room of Cyprus Avenue to do a live Podcast for the Metal United gig thanks to Danny Fitz of Pethrophile Promotions. Elder Druid from Ballymena arrived after a long journey and being great lads agreed to do an interview with me as soon as the gear was dragged up the stairs. The chat was mainly about the bands they've toured with, trying to conquer Metal to the Masses and win a chance at a Bloodstock appearance, new songs and working with Mariusz Lewandowski. Plenty of laughs, a shout out about Brexit and it's only a matter of time before they'll become a regular fixture at festivals all across Europe.

The Metal Cell was set up in The Green Room of Cyprus Avenue to do a live Podcast for the Metal United gig thanks to Danny Fitz of Pethrophile Promotions. Black Shuck from Galway were the second band to play for the worldwide celebration of metal and pummeled the growing crowd with slabs of raw face melting aggression. Soon a mosh pit started at the front of the stage with the band joining in. Brendan, Ian and Thomas joined me afterwards for one of the best laughs I had in along time, covering all sorts of random subjects. So if you like Bloodstock, Jagermeister, killdozers, metal, Lars Ulrich and tasty bass players do not miss this one.

The Metal Cell Studio was delighted to spend an entertaining hour in the company of Evan Prendergast (drums) and new guitarist Alex Heinrich of Worn Out discussing an eventful few months which saw original guitarist Isaac leave and Alex joining, resulting in the creation of several new songs, the importance of band dynamics, gigging with various bands, working with artists Kate Rua & Kelvin Doran and the Irish Metal Scene. It's a jam packed hour with the two lads and there's plenty of laughs along the way.

Sean and Ronán sat down with me in Ronán's kitchen and instead of TV show Come Dine With Me we had our own Come Slime with Me chat about upcoming tours, recording singles, past members, future plans and of course the excellent merchandise from Ten Ton Slug. Episode 13: Coroza. Riff merchants Ciaran Coghlan and Jack O'Neill discuss the bands six month hiatus, recording new material and preview of two tracks from the yet to be released new album “Chaliceburner”

The Metal Cell Studio is proud to announce that Coroza are back to bring the heaviness to bear on the Irish Metal Scene with an exclusive preview of two tracks off their yet to be released new album “Chaliceburner”. The first song to open the episode is the actual title track “Chaliceburner” Heaviness rests well in the arms of Coroza and this is a fine example of a band that deliver it in huge slabs. Closing the show is the instrumental track “Scaltheen” sure to level any audience and leave them slack jawed in a drooling mess when that saxophone kicks in. Absolutely blown away by these two songs and remember they're not fully mixed yet but if this is a taster then we all can look forward to another huge release from one of our own flying the flag for Irish Metal. Ciaran and Jack delve into the time frame its taken to navigate through replacing a band member, recording an album, side projects and emerging through the other side ready to go for the jugular with a series of gigs right through the summer.

The Metal Cell Studio was delighted to spend an entertaining few hours in the company of Howard, the hugely talented and accomplished vocalist & guitarist from Partholón. Howard has been involved in playing music in Cork with various bands for over 22 years, which allows him to share his perspective with me on the current status of the metal scene. He explains the responsibility he places upon himself as an musician and an artist, his hopes, frustrations and ambitions which drive him to complete the Partholón album for a future release late this year. It was a great interview and plenty of laughter ensued as well.

Archaós released their brilliant sophomore e.p Liberation to the Irish Metal Community on March 22nd 2019. Aaron on bass and Luke frontman/guitarist visited The Metal Cell studios to talk about how they wrote, recorded and mixed the e.p themselves along with fellow band members Alessio on guitar/death vocals and Chris on drums. Cans of beer were cracked open to a discussion on Dantes "The Divine Comedy", attacking metal objects with axes for the opening track Dugga and what it means for a band like Archaós to find their sound in a thriving Irish Metal Scene. So sit back and enjoy this great episode with the 2 lads of Archaós who certainly can make a huge difference to Irish Metal given their chance.
